Mexican Origin People in the United States: The 1979 Chicano Survey (MEX)

DESCRIPTION:  The 1979 Chicano survey, conducted by the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, was a household survey of persons of Mexican descent in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of the survey was to compile a statisticallu representative and comprehensive body of empirical information about the social, economic, and psychological status of Chicanos. Interviews were conducted in Spanish or English, depending upon the respondent's preference. A total of 991 interviews were collected. The data are available in OSIRIS and card-image format. There are approximately 1,800 variables for 991 cases.
