National Household Education Survey (NHES)

DESCRIPTION:  The National Household Education Survey (NHES) is an ongoing project of the National Center for Education Statistics. The NHES uses digit dial (RDD) sampling and computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) to conduct studies of important education issues. This CD contains four NHES components: 1991 Adult Education - Focuses on participation in a broad range of adult education activities by persons 16 and older. Both an Adult file and Course file are provided. 1991 Early Childhood Education - Focuses on child care, early chilhood education programs, early school experiences, and home activities of children age 3 to age 8. Both a Preprimary file and Primary file are provided. 1993 School Readiness - Focuses on the characteristics and experiences of children age 3 through age 7 or second grade. 1993 School Safety and Discpline - Focuses on school environment, discipline, and safety. The Parent file represents grades 3 through 12, and the Youth file represents grades 6 through 12. A combined file is also provided. 1995 Adult Education / Early Childhood Education - Repeat the NHES:91 topics with design modifications based on experience and new research issues. The ECPP file represents children from birth through age 10 in third grade or below.
